The Baum School of Art’s David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries are pleased to host Contemporary Abstract, guest curated by Dominick Naccarato.

Contemporary Abstract is an exhibit of Lehigh Art Alliance member work that demonstrates what we consider to be abstract art. Not beholden to the strictest of definitions, the curation of the exhibit has been artist-led to include the work they feel best represents the theme of contemporary abstraction. The artworks pull inspiration from a variety of abstract styles, including cubism, marbling, block art, and expressionism. Other pieces blur the lines between abstraction and realism; depicting a somewhat distorted version of reality. Collage, digital photography, mosaic, sculpture, and assemblage art are all represented here. LAA artists’ variety of mediums show that painting alone is not necessarily the dominant medium of abstract art.
