In this class students will work with the instructor to develop high quality drawings and prepare a competitive college entrance portfolio.  In addition to improving drawing skills, the instructor will work directly with the students using their choice college's portfolio requirements as a guideline.

Printmaking

Painters, Graphic Designers, and Illustrators will all gain an edge by learning the basic image-making strategies of printmaking. Students will learn how to use stencils, carved blocks, presses, and other specialty tools to transfer original images to paper, fabric, and canvas. Prepare to be amazed by the wall art, books, and wearables that you can make by hand-printing!

Digital Animation

Using Adobe Animate CC, students will create animated digital presentations, cartoons, and interactive games. All aspects of development will be covered including storyboarding and character and scene creation. Digital animation techniques include traditional frame-by-frame animation, interpolated and programmatic motion and viewer activity.  Students will also explore mixing, recording, and the use of sound in their creations.

Figure Drawing For Teens

One of the best ways to learn to draw the human form is by studying a live model. Students will sharpen their drawing skills and learn various approaches to drawing the figure through the use of a clothed model. This class is excellent for any student who is preparing a portfolio for entering college.

Whether you already know the basics from illustrating comics and manga on your own, or are looking for the next step after mastering the skills in our "Manga, Comics, and Cartooning" class, this advanced digital cartooning class is for you. This class will focus on digital tools used in the creation of comics and manga, from drawing and coloring to composition and publishing. Expect to make comics ready for print and for web publication. Previous experience in Manga, Comics, and Cartoons is highly suggested.

In this class students learn to throw on a potter’s wheel, creating functional ceramic bowls, cups, vases, etc.  Hand building techniques are also covered when students make their own inventive sculptures.  Projects will be glazed and kiln fired.
