Intro to Jewelry & Metalsmithing

Learn the basics of jewelry and metalsmithing with this introductory course and discover the working properties of non-ferrous metals such as: copper, bronze, brass, nickel, and sterling silver, while experimenting with a range of fabrication techniques. Working with a variety of specialty hand tools, jewelry making equipment, and torches, students will learn: soldering, annealing, texturing, forming, and finishing. Design and workshop safety considerations will also be covered.

Technical Tuesday: Forged Hinged Cuff
Tuition: $175.00
Lab Fee: $20.00
Start Date: May 2nd, 2017

Forged Hinged Cuff: Students will forge a heavy gauge piece of wire into a refined hinged cuff with a tension clasp. The bracelet can be modified for hard to find sizes as well as setting a stone on the surface. Bring 6 inches of 6 gauge round wire to the first day of class.

Intermediate & Advanced Jewelry & Metalsmithing
Tuition: $175.00
Lab Fee: $20.00
Start Date: May 4th, 2017
Experienced jewelry students will further develop their metalsmithing skills, taking their designs to the next level.  Various topics in jewelry-making will be explored including: advanced fabrication, complex soldering techniques, stone setting, polishing and finishing, flexible shaft machine, patination, design concepts, and tool maintenance, in addition to working with enamels and experimental media.
